Local & State Governments

In addition, we offer insight to state-level agencies working on optimizing their planning and operational performance.

TCCG Team

Founder and President
R. Erich Caulfield, PhD

Founder and President R. Erich Caulfield is a Baton Rouge, LA native and a former White House official and McKinsey & Company consultant. A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Erich has led high-profile projects in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, as well as made significant contributions through his volunteer service.

 

Before founding The Caulfield Consulting Group (TCCG), Erich served as the New Orleans Federal Team Lead for the Obama White House's Strong Cities, Strong Communities (SC2) Initiative. Embedded in the Mayor’s Office in New Orleans, Erich served as the White House's liaison to the Mayor's Office and led an interagency team with representatives from 14 federal agencies that worked closely with the City's leadership on a variety of initiatives.

 

Prior to moving to New Orleans, Erich was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve as a White House Fellow, working at the White House Domestic Policy Council and before that, was the Chief Policy Advisor to former Newark, NJ Mayor Cory Booker. Before entering government service, he worked in management consulting as an Associate at McKinsey & Company, focusing on public sector and process design-related projects. 

 

Erich is currently serving on the Executive Committee of the MIT Board of Trustees and the City of New Orleans' Economic Development (New Orleans Business Alliance) Board of Directors. For his work in the City, Erich has been featured on Gambit Magazine's List of 40 Under 40 and given the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute's Award for Outstanding Contribution to Public Policy.

 

Erich received a PhD and MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, where he served as Graduate Student Body President and the 125th President of the MIT Association of Alumni and Alumnae, and a BS, Phi Beta Kappa with departmental honors, in Physics and Mathematics from Morehouse College.
